Three simple concepts to understand the Elo system
Start at 1,500
All players start with 1,500 Elo points. It's the starting point for everyone.
Win, climb
Every victory earns you points. Beating someone better than you earns more points.
Your real level
With every match, the system adjusts your score to reflect your real level.
What happens when you play?
A real example of how scores change
Example match
League · 1st Men's
Player A
Player B
If B wins (the favourite)
The expected result. Small changes.
If A wins (the upset!)
Unexpected result. Big changes!
The key: beating someone with a higher Elo gives you more points than beating someone with a lower one. This way the system quickly reflects your real level.
