1. Introduction and philosophy
The LuxPadel League is a digital team padel league organised by SOMOS LUXPADEL, SCP and run entirely through the luxpadel.pro platform. The first season is played between September 2026 and May 2027.
It is part of the LuxPadel ecosystem, which combines regular team competition with LuxPadel Experience events: premium match days where players do not just compete but live a complete experience. The final stages of the league (the FINAL FOURS) are played in Experience format as the grand season finale.
- A digital project of its own: the LuxPadel League is born with its own identity — an individual ELO ranking, scoring by pair position with free line-ups, 100% in-app management and a competition format inspired by the open-league model of the new Champions League. These rules have been written originally for the LuxPadel League.
- Territorial scope: the competition is played in Catalonia and nearby neighbouring areas. The active zonal leagues each season are determined by the organisation. For the inaugural season the Lleida and Tarragona leagues are planned, with the possibility of opening Barcelona, Girona and Huesca depending on registrations.
- Private and independent: the LuxPadel League is a private competition with no ties to any federation. No federation licence is required: the LuxPadel licence (section 8) includes insurance cover and platform access, and is valid for any player regardless of their home town.
Frame of reference: anything not covered by these rules will be resolved by the Competition Committee. For purely technical aspects of the game, the international rules of padel in force (FIP) apply on a supplementary basis.
2. Organisation and Competition Committee
The LuxPadel League is organised by SOMOS LUXPADEL, SCP (Tax ID J26999185).
- Competition Committee: applies these rules, resolves incidents, validates results and imposes the sanctions provided for. It appoints a competition manager as the first instance for resolution.
- Power to amend: the organisation reserves the right to adjust these rules whenever it considers this beneficial for the smooth running of the competition, giving sufficient notice.
- Official contact: all communication takes place through the luxpadel.pro platform and the official league channels.
3. Competition structure
The competition is organised on three levels, in addition to the gender category. It is worth distinguishing them because they are assigned differently:
| Level | What it is | How it is assigned |
|---|---|---|
| Category (gender) | Men's / Women's | — |
| Division | GOLD / SILVER / BRONZE (Regular Phase pool, up to 32 teams) | By the average ELO of the squad |
| Tier | 1st / 2nd / 3rd / 4th (title phase) | By Regular Phase results |
3.1. Zonal leagues
The LuxPadel League is organised into independent zonal leagues. Each zone has its own league, with its own competition and its own champions:
- LuxPadel League Lleida
- LuxPadel League Tarragona
- LuxPadel League Barcelona, Girona and Huesca (depending on each season’s registrations)
Each team is assigned to the zonal league of its home venue. All of them apply the same competition system (section 4).
Sub-zones: the organisation may split a zone into sub-zones when the number of teams justifies it. Each sub-zone works with the same format as a zone: a single table, a title phase and its own champions.
3.2. Categories
Within each zonal league, competition takes place in two independent categories: Men's and Women's. Mixed and Senior categories may be added in later seasons.
3.3. Divisions (GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE)
Each category of a zonal league is organised into divisions: the groups of teams that play the Regular Phase together. Each division has a reference capacity of 32 teams and they are named, from highest to lowest level, GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE.
- Up to 47 teams (32+15) a single division (GOLD) is kept.
- From 48 teams (32+16) two divisions are created (GOLD with 32 and SILVER with the rest), and so on whenever there are at least 16 teams to form a new one.
- Assignment by ELO: divisions are composed according to the average ELO ranking of each team’s players. There are no administrative promotions or relegations: every season the divisions are reconfigured by ELO, so a team that improves its ELO level moves up a division automatically.
Note: in the first season, as there is no ELO history yet, if a zone reaches the two-division threshold teams will be asked which division they want to enter. From the second season onwards, assignment is automatic by average ELO. The inaugural season’s division-preference consultation may be run through the official channels outside the app, and the organisation applies it before the draw.
3.4. Minimum participation requirement
For a category to go ahead in a zone, a minimum number of registered teams must be reached, which the organisation will confirm each season. If a zone does not gather enough teams, the organisation may merge it with a nearby zone or postpone its start.
4. Competition system
The format in one sentence. Within each division (GOLD, SILVER…) of a zonal league, all teams form a single table and play up to 14 match days against as many different opponents as the division allows, assigned by draw and with the home/away split as balanced as the format permits. At the end, the table is split into tiers of 8 teams (1st, 2nd, 3rd…) and each tier plays its final phase up to a FINAL FOUR. The LuxPadel Cup is played in parallel. Every team’s placement is 100% on sporting merit.
4.1. Overview
The season of each division unfolds as follows:
- Regular Phase: a single open league (“Champions” model), with one table.
- LuxPadel Cup: a knockout tournament, played in parallel, at mid-season.
- Qualification play-ins: borderline matches that fine-tune the cut-offs between tiers.
- Title phase: the table is split into tiers of 8 teams and each tier plays its bracket up to a FINAL FOUR, which crowns the champion of each tier.
4.2. Regular Phase — open league
Within each division, all teams of a category share a single table. There are no pre-assigned groups or tiers: the tier (1st-4th) is decided by results, at the end of the Regular Phase.
- Each team plays up to 14 match days and faces as many different opponents as its division allows: a full round-robin is played first, so no team repeats an opponent while it still has a new one to play. Only when the division does not have enough teams to reach 14 different opponents are teams that have already met drawn against each other again, and then always with the venue reversed: whoever travelled the first time hosts the second.
- The split between home and away matches is balanced as far as the format permits, with a tolerance of one match. In divisions of 12 and 14 teams an exact 7/7 is not possible for every team: with 14 teams there is a single return match day to choose from and no choice balances all fourteen teams at once. The draw picks the least unbalanced split available, so a team may end up 8/6 or 6/8.
- Each team’s opponents are assigned by a draw among all the teams in the division, with pots formed by team ELO (pot size is set by the organisation for each division; 8 teams by default) and with no geographical proximity criteria.
- The draw and the full calendar are published at the start of the season.
Note: the number of match days (up to 14) is confirmed for each division depending on the number of teams. Playing 14 match days against different opponents requires at least 15 teams; in divisions with fewer teams the following point applies. In divisions with an odd number of teams, the calendar may require additional match days (byes) to complete the 14 matches per team.
Zones or tiers with few teams: no zone and no tier is cancelled for lack of teams. When the number of teams does not allow 14 match days against different opponents, a round-robin league is played and the remaining match days up to 14 are assigned by draw among the same teams, always as a return fixture with the venue reversed compared with the tie already played.
4.3. Table and tie-breaks
The table is the cumulative sum of the points obtained in each tie according to the 3-2-1 scoring (section 5.3). If two teams are level on points, the order is resolved by applying successively:
- 1st. Head-to-head: the team that won more matches in total in that tie wins.
- 2nd. Difference between matches won and lost over the season.
- 3rd. Difference between sets won and lost.
- 4th. Difference between games won and lost.
- If three or more teams are level, the same criteria apply taking into account only the ties between the teams involved, prioritising matches won between them (not the points added to the overall table).
- If the teams are still level after the whole tie-break chain has been applied, the Committee decides, with reasons given.
The table is exclusively the sum of the 3-2-1 points with the tie-breaks of this section. For information only, the platform publishes each team’s calendar difficulty (the mean current team ELO of its calendar opponents). That figure never alters the order of the table; the Competition Committee may take it into account, with reasons given, to resolve manifest inequity at the cut-offs between tiers, Cup blocks or play-ins.
4.4. LuxPadel Cup
The LuxPadel Cup is a knockout tournament played at mid-season (December), in parallel with the Regular Phase. Participation is compulsory for all registered teams and carries no additional cost, as it is funded by sponsorship.
- Each Cup tie is played over 3 matches (the team that wins 2 or 3 goes through), as a single tie at the home of the lower-ranked team of the pairing (“Copa del Rey” philosophy).
- The bracket is split into blocks of 8 teams according to the Regular Phase table at that moment and the ELO ranking. Each block plays its own bracket and crowns its own Cup champion. When the total number of teams is not a multiple of 8, the last block absorbs the remainder.
- The FINAL FOUR of each block (semi-finals and final) is played at a single venue on a single day, in LuxPadel Experience format. The Cup awards its own title, independent of the league title.
- Compulsory participation: failing to appear for a Cup tie with notice (at least 24 h) or with a justified reason only entails elimination from the Cup; without notice it also entails a warning under the disciplinary regime (section 12). The notice threshold (24 h) is a published parameter, configurable by the organisation.
Same format as the title phase: each block’s bracket is identical to the league title phase (section 4.7) — single-match quarter-finals and a FINAL FOUR. The only difference is the quarter-final venue: in the Cup they are played at the home of the lower-ranked team of the pairing, and in the title phase at the home of the higher-ranked team.
Note: the scope of the 2026-27 Cup is zonal. Each season’s scope and its sponsor are confirmed before the start.
4.5. Qualification play-ins
At the end of the Regular Phase, to make the split into tiers fair, the borderline positions play a single-tie play-in at the home of the higher-ranked team:
- 8th and 9th play for the last place in the 1st tier; the winner enters the 1st tier and the loser the 2nd.
- The same at the 16th-17th (2nd/3rd), 24th-25th (3rd/4th) and subsequent borders.
- Non-borderline positions are assigned directly to their tier. Each tier keeps 8 teams.
- If one of the two teams of a borderline tie has been excluded or has withdrawn, the place goes to the next team in the table.
4.6. Title tiers (blocks of 8)
Once the play-ins are resolved, the table of each division is split into tiers of 8 teams:
| Position in the table | Tier |
|---|---|
| 1st – 8th | 1st tier |
| 9th – 16th | 2nd tier |
| 17th – 24th | 3rd tier |
| 25th – … | 4th tier and subsequent |
As many tiers are created as the number of teams allows (a full division of 32 gives 4 tiers: 1st-4th). The last tier absorbs the remainder when the total is not a multiple of 8; with fewer than 8 teams, the bracket gives byes to the best-placed teams.
Two levels of assignment: which division (GOLD/SILVER/BRONZE) a team plays in is determined by its ELO before the season; which tier (1st-4th) it reaches is determined by its Regular Phase results.
4.7. Title phase
Each tier of 8 teams plays its knockout bracket to decide its champion:
- Single-match quarter-finals, at the home of the higher-ranked team of each pairing. As each tie is 3 matches, there is always a winner (2-1 or 3-0).
- FINAL FOUR: the 4 teams that get through the quarter-finals play the semi-finals and the final at a single venue, in LuxPadel Experience format. The single venue is set by the organisation and may be neutral (it need not belong to a participating club). The winner is the champion of its tier (for example, “1st tier Champion — GOLD Division”).
- Progression is by matches won: in every winner-takes-all tie — play-ins, quarter-finals, FINAL FOUR semi-finals and final, and the whole Cup — the team that wins more of the three matches goes through, not the one that scores more points. The 3-2-1 scoring (section 5.3) is used only for the Regular Phase table.
- Why there can be no doubt: the two criteria can only diverge in one case, when the team that wins the pair no. 1 match loses those of pairs no. 2 and no. 3: then there is a 3-3 tie on points and the team that won two matches goes through. In any other result, the team that wins two matches always scores more points than its opponent, so the two criteria coincide.
4.8. Eligibility for the decisive phases
To be eligible for the decisive phases (play-ins, quarter-finals and FINAL FOUR), each player must have played at least 2 ties in the Regular Phase with the corresponding team. This guarantees that the title phases are played by the real teams, not last-minute signings.
For this purpose, a “tie played” means one with a confirmed result in which the player appears on the match report; the opponent’s no-shows count and the team’s own do not. The minimum (2 ties) is a parameter published by the organisation.
4.9. Season calendar
| Block | Period | Content |
|---|---|---|
| Registrations and draw | September 2026 | League set-up and calendar publication |
| Regular Phase | October 2026 – March 2027 | Up to 14 match days, balanced home/away split |
| LuxPadel Cup | December 2026 | Knockout, all teams |
| Transfer window | December 2026 – January 2027 | Closed period for changes (section 7) |
| Play-ins + Title phase | April – May 2027 | Play-ins, quarter-finals (single match) and FINAL FOURS |
Note: reference calendar. Long weekends and Holy Week (Easter: 28 March 2027) are excluded. Dates and the number of match days may be adjusted before the start of the season depending on registrations and venue availability. The organisation publishes the final calendar of each zonal league once registrations close, and that calendar prevails.
4.10. Evolution model (future seasons)
The system is identical every season and team placement is always on merit. Divisions are reconfigured by average ELO, which naturally resolves the placement of new teams (they are placed according to the ELO of their squad). Once 4 zones are consolidated, the LUXPADEL MASTER FINAL will be played between the champions of each zone.
5. The tie and the playing system
5.1. Composition of the tie
Each meeting between two teams (a tie) is played with 3 pairs per team: no. 1, no. 2 and no. 3. No. 1 plays no. 1, no. 2 plays no. 2 and no. 3 plays no. 3.
Free composition: each captain forms their 3 pairs as they wish, with no obligation to order them by ranking or points. The only thing that counts is which position each pair occupies, because each position awards a different number of points (section 5.3).
5.2. Match format
- All matches are played best of 3 sets, with a tie-break in every set.
- The golden point applies (“no-advantage” method): at every 40–40 a deciding point is played and the receiving pair chooses the receiving side.
5.3. 3-2-1 scoring
In each tie there are 6 points at stake, according to the position of the pair that wins its match:
| Match won | Points for the team |
|---|---|
| Pair no. 1 | 3 points |
| Pair no. 2 | 2 points |
| Pair no. 3 | 1 point |
Why 3-2-1: since pair no. 1 is worth three times pair no. 3, every team is better off lining up its best pair in position no. 1. The points system itself pushes teams to compete with the best possible line-up, without needing to impose any order. Points accumulate in the table (section 4.3).
5.4. Tie with two pairs
In the Regular Phase, if a team fields only 2 pairs, they will be no. 1 and no. 2, and the pair no. 3 match is forfeited (the opponent takes the point). No tie may be played with a single pair.
5.5. Official ball
The organisation provides the official LuxPadel League ball (Palbea) for all ties. It is compulsory to play with it and to open a new can for each match, except when continuing a match interrupted for weather reasons.
5.6. Injury or retirement during a match
If a player is injured or a pair cannot continue a match already under way, the match is awarded to the opposing pair, granting them the games and sets needed to win it. The other matches of the tie are played as normal.
5.7. Interruption of a match under way
If a match already started has to be interrupted (for example, because of rain), the score stands and the match resumes from the point at which it was interrupted, subject to agreement between the two teams on when to resume. If it cannot be resumed, the postponement protocol applies (section 11).
6. Teams and players
6.1. Team composition
- Squad: each team is made up of at least 10 registered players, with no maximum. Each tie is played by 6 players (3 pairs).
6.2. Captain and vice-captain
Every team appoints a captain and, optionally, a vice-captain, who act as the link with the organisation. The captain is responsible for knowing and enforcing the rules, ensuring the team’s sportsmanship, managing line-ups and match reports in the app, and keeping in touch with the organisation and the opposing team. If unable to attend, the captain may delegate their duties by notifying it through the app.
6.3. Player eligibility
- Minimum age: 16. The requirement is counted by year of birth and not by birthday: any player who turns 16 within the calendar year in which the season starts may take part, regardless of the day and month of their birthday. For the 2026-2027 season, therefore, players born in 2010 or earlier may take part.
- Minors: players under 18 must provide the signed authorisation of their father, mother or legal guardian through the app before their first line-up. The guardian authorisation covers the participation of the minor. Assigning image rights (section 16) is a separate and voluntary decision that the guardian may grant or refuse without it affecting the participation of the minor in any way.
- All participants must hold a valid LuxPadel licence (section 8.2).
- A player may be registered with only one team for the whole season. The only exception is the affiliate-player regime between teams of the same club in different divisions (section 6.5).
6.4. Additions and removals
- New players may be added during the Regular Phase until the registration closing date published by the organisation.
- That closing date does not apply to players who have had no team all season: they may join a team at any time, through the free-agent pool (section 7.1).
- A player who has already been lined up cannot be removed, except through the transfer window (section 7.2).
6.5. Affiliate players (teams of the same club in different divisions)
When a club has teams in two different divisions of the same zonal league (for example, one in GOLD and one in SILVER), players from the lower-division team may reinforce the higher-division team, under these conditions:
- A maximum of 2 affiliate players may be lined up per tie, with no limit on the number of times over the season (they may always be the same 2 players).
- The points of each tie (3-2-1) count for the team playing it, the higher-division team; ELO points always go to the player, whichever team they belong to.
- An affiliate player may play the decisive phases (play-ins, quarter-finals and FINAL FOUR) of the higher-division team provided they have played at least 2 ties with it.
Note: this regime only applies in zones with two or more divisions; in the inaugural season, with a single division per zone, it does not apply.
7. Transfer market
The transfer market groups the two mechanisms by which a player joins a team over the season: the free-agent pool, open at all times to players with no team this season, and the transfer window, reserved for players who already belong to another team.
7.1. Free agents
- Any player may register on the luxpadel.pro platform without being linked to any team. Registration is free and involves no commitment.
- When registering, the player indicates their category, zone, town and availability, and their profile becomes part of the free-agent pool, visible to captains in the app.
- Captains may offer a place to any player in the pool, and the player may request to join a team. In both cases the addition is formalised with the agreement of both parties, recorded in the app.
- Adding a player from the pool is an ordinary addition (section 6.4), not a transfer: it does not use up the window’s signing limit and may be done at any point in the season. A player who has had no team this season is not bound by the registration closing date and does not have to wait for the transfer window.
- The LuxPadel licence (section 8.2) becomes due at the moment of actually joining a team; registering on the platform is free of charge.
- A player who does not join any team remains in the pool and may be claimed at any point in the season.
- To play the decisive phases, a player must have played at least 2 ties with the team, including players added from the pool (section 4.8).
7.2. Transfer window
Around Christmas, between December and January, a transfer window opens: a closed period during which a player who already belongs to a team may move to another. The organisation publishes the exact dates before it opens. Outside this window, a player belongs to a single team. The window does not concern a player with no team this season: they join whenever they wish through the ordinary route in section 7.1, without waiting for it.
- Within the window, a player may change teams as many times as needed: the limit is not on the player but on the number of signings the signing team may make.
- A transfer requires only the agreement of the player and of the captain of the destination team, recorded in the app. The team of origin does not have to give any consent: the app automatically notifies it of the departure.
- Each club may sign a maximum of 2 players from other clubs during the window, plus one additional signing for each of its own players who leaves within the same window, with no upper limit: a club that loses five players may sign seven. The teams of the same club share this quota.
- Points already scored for the team of origin are not transferred; the player keeps their individual ELO ranking.
- A player who has transferred may not play again, for the rest of the season, for any of the teams they have left. The no-return rule also applies at club level: a player who has left a club during the season may not rejoin it until the following season.
- To play the decisive phases with the new team, the player must have played at least 2 ties with that team after the transfer.
Veto for balance: the organisation reserves the right to veto any addition, whether a free-agent signing or a transfer, that seriously distorts the balance of the competition.
8. Registration and financial conditions
Registrations are formalised through the luxpadel.pro platform within the established deadlines.
8.1. Team fee
- Standard price: €300 + VAT (21%) per team per season. It includes the management and organisation of the competition, calendars, full platform access, the official ball for match days and participation in all phases for teams that qualify.
- Founder price: €220 + VAT per team. A special price reserved for founding teams. The conditions and the dates on which it applies are those published by the organisation on the platform at any given time.
8.2. Player licence
Individual licence per player per season. It includes sports accident insurance (section 13) and full access to the platform, statistics and ELO ranking. It is compulsory for all players, at the following price according to age:
- €48 — over 18s.
- €38 — minors.
- Over 65s: price to be confirmed.
A licence that tends towards zero cost: the licence includes a package of discount vouchers from the league’s sponsors, with the aim that their value offsets the cost and that, in practice, the licence ends up free for the player.
8.3. Courts and balls at no cost to the player
A distinctive feature of the LuxPadel League: players pay nothing to play match days, neither at home nor away. The courts for each tie are provided by the home team’s club, and the official ball by the organisation. An “all-inclusive” model.
8.4. Taxation
SOMOS LUXPADEL, SCP is a for-profit entity; fees are therefore subject to 21% VAT.
8.5. Payment and non-payment
Payments are managed through the platform. A team may add players to its roster at any time, whether or not it has paid its fee. What the platform blocks is participation: a team with an outstanding fee cannot submit a lineup, and a player without a valid licence cannot be fielded on any matchday and does not count towards the Elo ranking.
9. LuxPadel Ranking (ELO) and prizes
The LuxPadel League has its own individual ranking based on the ELO system (the same principle used in chess). It is a single ranking for the whole LuxPadel ecosystem: it is fed both by league matches and by LuxPadel Experience event matches, and it is public and openly viewable on the platform.
- Every player starts with 1500 points. It is the same starting point for everyone, with no prior level estimates or initial categories: from there, the ranking is built solely by results, match by match.
- The ranking is continuous: it is neither reset nor recalibrated at the start of each season. The score accumulates the player’s entire history since their first match, and the 1500 points are only the starting point for a new player, not a value returned to every year.
- Each player has an ELO score that is updated after every match, according to the result and the opponents’ ELO level: beating higher-rated opponents earns more points. The calculation uses a base K-factor of 32, adjusted by published multipliers: margin of victory (between ×0.5 and ×2.0 depending on how emphatic the result is) and the weight of the competition. A no-show is not scored as a win and a loss: it is scored as a draw and at half weight for both sides, so the team that fails to appear does not lose all its ELO, nor does the team that turns up gain it. League matches and Experience matches feed the same global ranking.
- The ELO ranking is individual and follows the player whichever team they belong to. The squad’s average ELO determines the team’s division (GOLD/SILVER/BRONZE) each season (section 3.3).
- Within a division, ELO does not determine the tier (there are no caps); it is used for tie seeding, for the transfer market and for prizes.
- Next to each score, the platform shows a level label (from Beginner to Exceptional) derived from ELO. It is a descriptive reference for the ranking and has no competitive effect: it determines neither the team’s division nor its tier, nor who may be lined up in a tie.
No sanction ever touches ELO. Competition Committee rulings never adjust ELO already earned: an imposed no-show, an ineligible line-up, the annulment of a tie for unauthorised play, and the withdrawal or exclusion of a team move only the table points, and the ELO score of every player involved — including those of the opposing teams, who did nothing — stays exactly as it was. Conversely, a tie that a sanction stops before its result is validated never scores in the ranking at all: once annulled it can no longer be validated by any route — not by the opponent, not by the expiry of the 24 h deadline, not by the resolution of a complaint, not by filing a new match report — so there is no ELO to preserve because none was ever awarded. The only exception is the express reversal of a withdrawal decided in error, and only for the ties that same withdrawal annulled and which had not yet been played. Individual statistics do not follow this rule: they are computed from the match reports in force and are dealt with separately in section 12.
9.1. Prizes and awards
- Champions of each tier (1st, 2nd, 3rd…) at the FINAL FOURS, and LuxPadel Cup champion.
- Player of the Month: decided by global ELO progression within the calendar month (Europe/Madrid), with a minimum number of matches configurable by the organisation.
- Season MVP and the sportsmanship award: decided by the Committee with the support of the app’s data.
- Award for the team with the best sporting behaviour.
Safeguard clause: the organisation reserves the right to relocate a team when it detects a clear mismatch with its situation in the competition, in order to guarantee balance.
10. Match-day procedure
10.1. Days, times and changes
Ties are played in the following slots:
- Thursday and Friday, from 19:00 to 22:00.
- Saturday and Sunday, from 9:00 to 20:00.
Fixed home time: when registering, each team declares its default home day and time within these slots. This time is published in the calendar so that, by default, each team always plays at home on the same day and at the same time, giving predictability to players, clubs and spectators.
Long-trip time: when registering, each team declares two home times within the permitted slots: the usual one and the long-trip one. For each tie, the calendar publishes the time that applies according to the distance between the two venues.
The distance is calculated by road between the addresses of the two venues, according to Google Maps, is fixed at the start of the season and is published in the calendar.
- Up to 60 km: the home team’s usual time, within the general slots.
- From 60 to 130 km: start between 10:00 and 18:00, Saturday or Sunday.
- Over 130 km: start between 11:00 and 16:30, Saturday or Sunday.
These restrictions are not postponements and do not require agreement between teams: they appear in the calendar from day one.
Time changes for a specific match day are governed as follows:
- Unilateral (home team): may adjust the time within the permitted slots with at least 7 days’ notice, notifying it in the app. This is not considered a postponement.
- By mutual agreement: the two teams may agree on any day and time, even on weekdays (Monday to Wednesday), notifying it in the app. No justification is needed.
- Force majeure: the postponement protocol applies (section 11), with the Competition Committee having the final say.
Silence from the opponent: when a team requests a time change or a postponement by mutual agreement and the opponent does not answer within the published deadline (7 days for ordinary agreements and 3 for supervening causes), the request is deemed accepted and is applied to the calendar automatically. The Competition Committee still has the final say and may set the date and time directly.
Changes agreed by mutual consent are exempt from the general time slots and may be set for any day and time, except on the last two match days of the Regular Phase.
10.2. Venues and facilities
- Each venue must be able to provide the courts needed to play the full tie (ideally 3 courts; at least 2, with authorisation).
- It is compulsory to provide changing rooms for the visiting team and to keep the courts in good condition.
- When the venue only has 2 courts, the order of entry onto court is pair no. 3, no. 2 and no. 1.
- Players are recommended to wear their team’s official kit.
10.3. Line-ups and match reports
- Captains enter line-ups in the app up to 10 minutes before the match starts. Identification is by means of the digital LuxPadel licence in the app; in case of doubt, an ID card may be required.
- A match that has been played always counts as played, regardless of whether the line-up was submitted or not; in that case, the result is validated by both captains.
- The match report is completed online in the app, with a digital signature: either captain has 72 hours to record and sign the results, and the opponent has 24 hours to validate or dispute.
- No result that has not been recorded in the app is counted.
- If the opponent neither validates nor disputes the result within 24 hours, the result is deemed validated automatically.
- The digital signature of the match report is the captain’s authenticated action in the app, recorded with user and timestamp.
- Match reports not recorded within the deadline are closed automatically with 0 points for both teams, after a prior reminder and with a disciplinary warning (section 12).
10.4. Grace period and coaching
- Up to 20 minutes’ grace on the start time is allowed before a W.O. may be claimed, and up to 30 minutes if there is an incident, notifying the organisation.
- The captain and the players taking part in the tie may coach during the other matches.
11. Postponements and no-shows
11.1. Grounds for postponement
A tie may only be postponed because of adverse weather, an event at the host club that prevents it being played, a decision by the home team with sufficient notice, agreement between the two teams (except for the last two match days) or other extraordinary factors the Committee considers justified.
11.2. Protocol
Postponements are notified in the app with at least 24 hours’ notice (or as soon as possible in the case of an unforeseen cause). If the two captains do not agree on a new date, the home team will propose three alternative dates within the following two weeks and the visiting team will choose one; if there is still no agreement, the Committee will set the date. In any case, the Competition Committee has the final say on approving the postponement and setting the definitive date and time.
11.3. No-show (W.O.)
A W.O. is deemed to occur when, 20 minutes after the start time, a team does not have at least two pairs on court ready to play. “Notice” is deemed given when the no-show has been communicated to the opponent and the organisation at least 24 hours in advance. The consequences are detailed in section 12.
11.4. Withdrawal of a team
If a team withdraws from the competition once it has started, all its results are annulled (the points it has awarded or received). The matches it had left to play are not played: the teams that were due to play it lose that match day and may finish with fewer than 14 ties. The table does not penalise them for that, and the Committee may consult the published calendar difficulty (section 4.3) when weighing the cut-offs. If the withdrawal happens early and it is feasible, the organisation may reorder the calendar or reassign a fixture, but is not obliged to. Withdrawal does not entitle the team to a refund of the fee.
The individual ELO earned in matches against a withdrawn or excluded team is kept: no sanction recalculates it, reverses it or erases it; only the table points are annulled. The individual statistics of those matches are also kept, and here for a reason of their own: a withdrawal touches no match report already validated — it only cancels the ties still awaiting confirmation. Those cancelled ties are never validated by any route — not even by the expiry of the deadline — and they do not score in the table either, so they generate neither ELO nor statistics for anyone. Only the express reversal of that same withdrawal can reactivate one, and only if it had not yet been played.
12. Disciplinary regime
Penalties are applied to the table (points), regardless of the sporting result of the tie. The LuxPadel League applies its own scale of sanctions.
| Situation | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Full no-show WITHOUT notice | The team present wins 3–0 (6 points). The offender: 0 points from the tie and −3 in the table. |
| Full no-show WITH notice (≥24 h) | The team present wins 3–0 (6 points). The offender: 0 points from the tie and −1 in the table. |
| No-show of a single pair | That match is lost (the opponent takes the points). Without notice, −1 additional point. |
| Repeat offence (2nd full no-show without notice) | Exclusion from the competition, annulling the points awarded and received by the team. |
| Ineligible line-up (player without a licence or not registered) | Loss of the tie 3–0 and −3 in the table. A repeat offence entails exclusion. |
| Playing away from the venue, day or time without authorisation | Tie void for both teams and −2 points each. |
| Failing to record or validate the match report in time | If neither team records it, the tie scores 0 for both. Repeated failure to validate generates warnings: 3 warnings = −1 point. |
The sanctions in this section apply exclusively to the table. Their effect on ELO and on individual statistics is not the same, and it is worth knowing that before lodging a complaint.
ELO is never touched. No sanction recalculates, reverses or erases the ELO score a player has already earned, not even when the tie is annulled: annulled means it does not score in the table, not that it was not played. This holds for the sanctioned players and, above all, for those of the opposing teams, who did nothing. And a tie that a sanction stops before the match report is validated never awards any ELO, because it is validation that generates it.
Individual statistics, by contrast, derive from the match reports and follow them — but not all at the same moment. When a sanction annuls a tie or replaces its result with an imposed 3-0, the report that supported those figures ceases to be in force, and that reaches each place at its own pace:
- Pair statistics are computed on read, so they change instantly: that tie stops counting with what was played in it, and the pair’s numbers may go down.
- The figures on the player’s profile — ties, matches, sets, win percentage — are stored, and no sanction touches them: they stay exactly as they were. They are only rebuilt when a platform administrator recomputes the team’s statistics, and it is then that they follow the reports in force and may go down.
- The ranking does not move at all: neither the ELO score nor the ties recorded in it.
None of this is an added sanction or an erasure of the record: the tie still appears, together with the Committee ruling that annulled it or changed its result.
Note: the sanctioning values (24 h notice, −3/−1/−2 points, 3 warnings) are parameterisable by the Committee, with the values in these rules as the default.
13. Accident insurance
All players with a valid LuxPadel licence are covered by sports accident insurance taken out with Nueva Mutua Sanitaria, while playing official LuxPadel League matches. Main cover (season 2026-2027):
- Unlimited healthcare for sports accidents within the national medical network, with a time limit of 18 months from the accident: medical and surgical care, hospitalisation, hospital pharmacy, prostheses and osteosynthesis material and rehabilitation, with no limit on amount.
- Assistance abroad up to €6,010.12.
- Permanent, total or partial disability due to sporting activity: up to €12,020.24.
- Death due to sporting activity: €6,010.12 (under 14s: up to €3,000 for funeral expenses). Death during the activity without a direct cause: €1,803.04.
- Reimbursement of 70% of curative orthopaedic material and up to €600 in dental and stomatological treatment for injuries from sports accidents.
- Fisify telemedicine included (remote physiotherapy, video consultation and medical chat), available to insured persons over 18.
In the event of an accident, the claim-reporting protocol indicated on the platform and on the digital licence must be followed.
14. Liability
- Participation in the LuxPadel League is voluntary and takes place under the responsibility and at the own risk of each participant, who declares that they are in a suitable physical condition to play padel.
- SOMOS LUXPADEL, SCP is not liable for damage, injury or harm that participants may cause to themselves, to third parties or to facilities during matches, travel or competition activities, beyond the cover of the accident insurance (section 13).
- Each club or venue is responsible for the condition and safety of its facilities and for holding its own civil liability insurance. The LuxPadel League insurance covers player accidents, not the civil liability of venues.
- Participants are responsible for their personal belongings; neither the organisation nor the venues are liable for their loss, theft or damage.
- Players are responsible for the accuracy of the data they provide and for meeting the eligibility conditions (age, licence, belonging to a single team, etc.).
15. Complaints
- Complaints are submitted by captains through the app, stating the team they represent and the facts.
- The deadline for complaints about a tie ends 24 hours after the end of the match-report recording period.
- Complaints not tied to a specific tie are not subject to the 24-hour deadline.
- The Committee issues a ruling, which may be appealed within the following 48 hours. Once the appeal deadline passes with no submission, the ruling becomes final automatically. In cases not provided for, the Committee will apply the fairest solution according to these rules.
- Both captains involved — the one complaining and the one complained about — see the complaint, the ruling and the appeal deadline in the app, and either of them may appeal within that deadline.
16. Image rights, sponsorship and communication
- Taking part in the LuxPadel League does not require assigning image rights, and neither registration nor being fielded is conditional on it. The assignment is voluntary, specific and revocable at any time as easily as it is granted, from the player profile. It is granted separately for each purpose: publication in the match day galleries, league communication and commercial promotion. For minors it is granted by the father, mother or legal guardian, also separately from the participation authorisation. Anyone who does not assign it takes part entirely normally and is excluded from the identifiable images the platform publishes.
- This does not affect group images in which a person appears incidentally to the action or the event, which are governed by the rules applicable to the right to one’s own image at public events.
- The organisation may establish official sponsors with naming rights over competitions or activations (for example, the LuxPadel Cup or the Speed Challenge) and sector exclusivity. Sponsors’ advertising may be displayed at venues and in official communications.
- Official communication is channelled through luxpadel.pro and the @somosluxpadel channels.
17. Data protection (GDPR)
The controller of participants’ personal data is SOMOS LUXPADEL, SCP (Tax ID J26999185). Data are processed to manage registration, the competition, insurance and league communication, and are not disclosed to third parties except where legally required or to provide the associated services. Participants may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability through the official channels, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish data protection law.
18. Acceptance of the rules and final provisions
- Registration in the LuxPadel League implies full acceptance of these rules by clubs, captains and players.
- The organisation reserves the right to adjust these rules during the season for the smooth running of the competition, giving sufficient notice.
- Any clerical error in the wording will be corrected by the organisation in the way it considers fairest.
These rules enter into force upon their publication on luxpadel.pro.
